Cold camera

Oh yes, most importantly, have a flask/ travel cup with a hot drink in it at all times!!

It didn't help that my camera had been in the car overnight, but this overcomes the problem of the lens steaming up when you hold it or use it outside.

If you are going to leave your camera in the car overnight, insure it, have spare batteries, and wear gloves!!

So cold this morning. I was on Poole Quay photographing the sunrise at 7.30am, very stunning but I lost the feeling in my fingers so quickly!

Still no word on the replacement filter. I have a job a week on Friday I really need it for, so might have to order one from the USA. On second thoughts, I could pop over and get one!! I'm sure I could get that past our  accountant.....

Wedding progress

Completed the set of photos for the wedding of Mark and Lisa, and we are delighted to report that there are some fantastic shots in there, especially the ones we took in one of the unique rooms at the Castle. Some of those large old rooms proved great locations, and my only regret is that we did not have more time to spare there. Always the problem with a very busy wedding day.

Well we are now experiencing freezing cold to mid teens temperatures - must be late Autumn! So difficult to predict the weather at the moment.

Back up again!!!

OK - now I have sorted everything again, and am fully, fully up to date, and my main PC is repaired, I am looking forward to getting back to my catalogue on my PC with proper RAID configuration. Should save me loads of time importing shoots and doing back-ups, but the old fashioned way of backing up has proved it's worth!

Well it was terrible weather for Mark and Lisa's big day but it didn't spoil the day for them - they both had a great day.

As for the shoot - difficult as there was nowhere for people to go because of the weather but all went fantastically well.

PC Update

Well of course I now have to find all the CDs for the various bits of software I have that did not come with the PC. I have Photoshop, Lightroom, etc etc. But not the wireless driver - yes the one that you use to connect to the internet. Hmmmmmmm

£95 for a 14 month old computer to be repaired. Oh well! Will see how it is this evening and report back later....

RAID News

Ït turns out the raid controller was not working. So backing up all my data turned a potential disaster into a minor inconvenience!

I have bitten the bullet and taken my PC to the menders.

The hard drive RAID configuration issues mean that to get the PC to work I have to unplug one hard drive. Hardly ideal is it? And I do not get a copy of my hard drive.

So I have had to transfer everything onto my laptop, then take a copy of EVERYTHING, then take my main PC to be repaired. Then put it all back again. Thankfully the first bit went fine, and I do have a separate back-up of everything always! So all that time, effort and money ensuring the security and integrity of my data has paid off again!

On Saturday I did a photoshoot at an amazing country house in West Dorset. It was fantastic, very traditional and with extensive grounds which I got a tour of with the lovely couple who own it. In an all wheel drive utility vehicle the likes of which I have never seen before let alone been on!!

And it was a gorgeous hot sunny day too, so I could enjoy the early start and the lovely drive across Dorset. Once there I spent several hours shooting in this ever so lovely place, then home to the family, a quick sort and rough edit and emailed a selection to the client. Then by 5pm I was sat in the garden in the sun having a well earned beer.

I knew there was a reason I got into this photography world. And today was it!!
